| STONE, WOOD & BRONZE SCULPTURE BY KEN HANEY |

|
Artist Profile

Ken Haney was born and raised in San Francisco, and began taking 35mm slides in 1958 when he received his first camera, a
Super Westomate. Always a fan of Ansel Adams, in 1979 Ken bought Ansel's three books, got a Canon 35mm SLR camera, and started
taking black and white photographs.
"Before I became seriously interested in photography I tried my hand at several other forms of art. I believe it
was in the early 70's when I decided to take a mixed media sculpture class at Marin J.C. that included wood, stone & bronze."
In 1987 Ken attended the "Monterey Peninsula Workshop" with Henry Gilpin and John Sexton, and built his own
darkroom. He decided it was time to have a 4x5 field camera in hopes of producing better negatives and prints, and attended
two more workshops--"Mastering the Black and White Print" in 1991 with Henry Gilpin, Jeff Nixon and Roger Fremier,
and "The Expressive Black and White Print" in 1995 with John Sexton,
Ken moved to Lake Wildwood in 2003, and built a new darkroom. He says he continues to take photographs but not as frequently.
Ken's black and white photograph, "El Capitan," won 3rd Place this year at the Inspirations from the Forest
Fine Art Show at The Center for the Arts in Grass Valley.
