About the Artist

Warren Clark's paintings are distinguished by his use of brilliant colors and dramatic contrasts in darks and lights. For
10 years, he took art lessons from the well-known Nevada County artist, Max Ferry who taught him to "be free" to
express his own vision.
Warren paints with acrylics because they dry quickly and it is easy to make corrections. Subjects for his paintings are
found in magazines and calendars where he finds images that appeal to his artistic sense such as a blue heron skimming across
the water or a small boy sitting on a river bank fishing. He has a stereo next to his work space and plays his favorite tunes
while painting.
Warren states that painting is a very satisfying activity, relaxing and rewarding. When he is painting, he is not thinking
about the stresses of life, instead he is living in the moment.
Warren admires the paintings of Monet because of their dazzling colors, and the western artists, Frederick Remington and
Charles Russell. Warren studied at the Ray Vogue School of Design in Chicago and at Northwestern University, and also took
art classes at Denver University. He had a career with Business Interiors, Inc. and with Lockheed Martin.
Warren won a 1st at the Nevada County Fair for his acrylic painting of blue mountains.
