Artist Profile

Fran moved to Nevada County from the Bay Area with an interior design background renewing her interest in Sumi-e....Japanese
brush painting .... previously studied under Heromu Oda.
A love of bamboo subjects which are believed to bring harmony and good fortune is reflected in many of her pieces. Vintage
musical pages are often incorporated as backgrounds, which lend themselves to the "harmonious" aspect of the collage/assemblage
pieces that are a part of her work.
Another interest Fran enjoys is photography wherein various subjects are torn in irregular fashion with the use of rice
and mulberry papers as an added dimension.
The term Shibui represents restraint and a sense of timelessness. Earthtones often predominate and each piece is framed
as an integral part of the overall design, invoking a strived for serene quality.
As the Art Club's Hospitality chair, Fran is our welcoming committee at General Meetings. She is also the Art Coordinator
for our Featured Artist showcase at the Clubhouse.
