Artist Profile

dodieport.jpeg

Dodie signs her paintings Dodie Waters (her maiden name), and Co-chairs the Art Club's Program function to arrange interesting programs for our monthly General Meetings.

Dodie and her husband Paul Fluckiger moved from Southern California to Rollins Lake in 1989 to be near her daughter, Heidi Reeves, and then moved to Wildwood in 2001.

Heidi, a well known watercolorist in the North Tahoe communities, introduced Dodie to the world of art 10 years ago. "I cherish times with my daughter Heidi even more since we began sharing our excitement and enthusiasm about watercolor painting." Together they have attended workshops given by Howard Rees, and a Tony Couch workshop given in Cambria.

Dodie learned watercolor basics from Pauline Aldridge, and then studied weekly with Max Ferry. Max introduced her to art books and art videos which Dodie says she uses for ongoing education and inspiration. Dodie attributes much improvement in her work to Norm Brown's encouragement and patience while taking lessons from him.

She says "Watercolor painting and the appreciation of art and artists has given my life a wonderful new adventure in retirement. I expect to go on enjoying every new experience including all the special people art brings into my life. Wildwood Art Club definitely offers that--a terrific group!"
